Grand Prix de Snow 2018 Recap
We have been looking forward to holding the 2nd Grand Prix de Snow with our buds Lawrence Hacking and Husqvarna Motorcycles Canada for awhile now. It even looked like we would have a little bit of snow for it, which was something we never thought we would have a problem with when we started the event.
For those unfamiliar with the event, it's more about having fun than winning anything but like to encourage a little bit of fun and healthy competition in the afternoon with some races to keep things exciting. The day started off by getting everyone registered and opening up the track to let get people used to it's layout. This also helped with breaking it in and packing down some of the snow. As the day progressed, the track got a little less snowy, and a little more muddy but definitely easier to ride on than in the morning.
Another great part of the event was the Husqvarna demo rides. Throughout the day to people interested in checking out their awesome bikes were given a chance to still come out and have some fun.
After spending the morning practicing, we broke for lunch and our riders meeting. We announced our classes and everyone started getting ready to go slop around our now mostly muddy course. The classes run the gamut from Total Beginner on non-studded tires to Racer level studded tires class. We also had a bunch of classes for everything in-between as well as mini-bike and pit-bike classes, as well as few classes for the kids.
The day wrapped with giving out the 2018 Grand Prix de Snow Awards as well as some really awesome prizes from our amazing sponsors. Humongous thanks to Husqvarna Motorcycles, Biltwell Inc., Deus Ex Machina, Brixton, Roland Sands Design, Treadwell Clothing, Stance Socks, Tiger Distribution and Leeftail Co. for donating some amazing prizes!
We'd like to give a big thank you to Husqvarna Motorcycles for supporting the event and bringing their awesome bikes to share with us, the Mohawk Inn for continuing to support fun and good times at their great venue, Lawrence Hacking for shouldering the organizational duties with us and lending his expertise to running the event, the Sasquatch Cycles family for helping us with hay bales, scoring and bringing an excellent vibe to the Grand Prix, all our friends and family who helped make it a great event and kept everything running smoothly and to everyone who came out had fun, shared a smile and got dirty!
