Having a small bike in our window has become a December tradition at Town Moto. This year we have a sweet 1985 Honda XR80R that's been refurbed and is running sweet. It belongs to our pal and Slowcock Racing member Cody!
He bought the bike as a project from another friend that believed he'd seized the engine. Upon cracking it open turned out to be a camshaft sprocket that was so badly worn the cam chain got hung up on it. Since the engine was apart Cody vapour blasted it repainted the side covers and valve cover. While he was at it he replaced all the old worn out engine parts: cam, cam sprocket, cam chain, cam chain sliders, crank sprocket, new Kibblewhite valves/springs/seats and oversized Wiseco pistons.
The engine wasn't the only part of the bike to get an upgrade. A new NOS fork leg was sourced to replace a pitted one, new brake pads in the front and rear drums and the final drive received new sprockets and chain.
It's a sweet little bike that goes like new but still has the marks of being well enjoyed in its life. Make sure to pop down to the shop in December to check it out!
