1970 Triumph Tiger T100S
Junes window bike comes courtesy of our very own Employee of the Month 16 months running, Inigo. Inigo and his dad Dan who have been doing their best to hoard every European bike in Southern Ontario since 2014.
“We ended up with this bike sort of by accident. I had been interested in British bikes (particularly Triumph Bonnevilles) since I started riding but our bike choices had always swayed towards airhead BMWs. Early this year we were selling an ex-Winnipeg Police BMW R75/5 when someone offered to trade us his Triumph Scrambler. Normally trades end up being very one sided with only one party having a genuine interest in the other bike and the other side just hoping to make a buck.
This time, however, everyone was getting a fair deal and something they really wanted. The guy who had contacted us was looking for a bike he could take his kid on the back of, ideally without two unshielded exhaust pipes where the passengers feet typically go. On top of that, a relative of his had ridden bikes for the Winnipeg Police at the exact time our bike was being used. For us, the draw was just having something a bit different than we would typically have bought.
I immediately installed a electronic ignition and made some other minor repairs and she was good to go!
Weirdly, a few days after completing the trade a real estate agent friend called us and told he had a Triumph Bonneville that was sitting in the garage of a property was selling. So in one week we ended up with two Triumphs made the same month in 1970.”
