It should be no surprise that this beauty little two-smoker came from our friend Chris who's beautiful restorations have found their way into our window a number of times before. It was his first bike back in the day and the nostalgia around that was why he decided to restore this one. Here's some words from Chris on the restoration and his history with the K11.
"My fist bike in 1965 was a red Suzuki K11 (pre mix). For me a real freedom machine, took me all over the city with my pals on Honda 90’s and Suzuki 80’s. We used to cruise Yorkville and visit the burger joints all over TO. Rode it to high school all winter so as not to have to take the school bus. We would add a mud flap for the winter from Crappy Tire on the front fender to stay drier, Two other guys in my HS class and a neighbour on my street also had K11’s. This was in the Don Mills and Sheppard area before it was built up. Also, 4 guys in my vintage club started out with K11’s.
The black K11, I bought and restored was for purely nostalgic reasons. It took a few years with parts sourced from the Far East, America and Britain, 90% on Ebay, local sources for paint, chroming etc. The motor was fine with only 2k miles. Here is me in 65 with the red one. Still have the jacket (Bristol) and my wife wears it, way too small for me."
